Heath Ceramics in San Francisco.
If you appreciate arts and crafts and objects of unique quality and design you must visit the new Heath Ceramics shop in San Francisco.
I love to feel the weight of their tableware and the patina and matt finish of their ceramics. The color range is also very unique, I particularly like the Chocolate Brown, Black, French Grey and Mist colors. In a way it reminds me of the Bauer pottery I wrote about here . It is difficult to get the whole experience if you cannot pick up one of their pieces and feel it with your fingers, each object feels earthy, handcrafted and a work of art. I do not know of a more modern line of tableware. Their website is very complete and you can see the dozens of colors and patina. Their tile collection is wonderful too. I am specially crazy for their murals collection and their dimensional tiles.

The shop is in a 60,000-square-foot building which has been divided into a multiuse design hub replete with 3,500-square-foot gallery-like store, chef’s kitchen, on-site tile factory that you can look into from the shop, tile design bar, a delicious Blue Bottle Coffee outpost and, eventually, a restaurant.
Wonderful!
